Sega: 'No plans to undertake' Index projects, IPs available to Atlus

Sega Sammy's recent acquisition of Atlus' parent company, Index Corporation, left fans concerned that the business transaction would result in fewer Atlus RPGs making it overseas or Sega meddling with their projects. Thankfully, Siliconera's interview with Sega Sammy COO Naoya Tsurumi suggests that everyone's worrying for nothing. When questioned about the structure of Index's development going forward, Tsurumi stated that Sega has "no... [read news]

The name alone sets the tone: Gomo. It's an adorable, cartoon-style point-and-click adventure with creepy overtones and a sweet story about a creature and his dog, Dingo, who's been captured by aliens. Gomo comes out on December 6 for PC for £7, published by Daedalic Entertainment and developed by Fishcow Studio. It should be on Steam Greenlight in the near future. And yes, even the aliens are cute in Gomo.... [read news]

Cartoon Network's Young Justice won't be leaving a Legacy on Wii U or Wii, after developer Little Orbit and publisher Warner Bros. opted to cancel the spin-off for the two Nintendo consoles. PSN Tuesday: Need for Speed Rivals, NBA Live 14, Contrast

This week's PlayStation Network offerings are marked by NBA Live 14's arrival on PS4, the only game to launch on PS4 through PSN for the week. Additionally, the PS Vita's lone addition is The Amazing Spider Man. Need for Speed: Rivals headlines the list of new, digitally distributed PS3 games – though it already launched on PS4 – and it's joined by a number of other PS3 games: Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I Don't Know, Air... The third quarter of the financial year was a profitable one for GameStop, with sales jumping 18.8% to $2.11 billion and net earnings increasing by 45.3% over the prior year. Key to this growth was the release of Grand Theft Auto 5, a game we awarded 4.5/5 stars. According to GameStop's latest financial report, new software sales increased by 43.1% during the quarter. Hardware sales are likewise up, with the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS handhelds... [read news]

Donkey Kong world champion defends title for second year running

Jeff Willms continues his reign as the barrel-hopping, hammer-wielding champion of Nintendo's 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong after coming in first place at the recently concluded Kong Off 3 competition in Denver, Colorado. Willms finished first with a score of 1,096,200, edging out his closest competitor by more than 20,000 points. Dead Rising 3 review: Combo party

There aren't too many problems that can't be solved with a blow torch and a few well-scrounged supplies. This is what I've learned from Dead Rising 3, which evolves the patchwork weapon-crafting mechanic introduced in Dead Rising 2 in some very natural and helpful ways. Now you can build custom weaponry and vehicles, often to great comical effect, anywhere you want in the game world of Los Perdidos. Dead Rising 3 doesn't greatly deviate from... [read news]

The game joins Steam as part of the Early Access program as it wraps up its... [read news]

PSA: Battlefield 4 Commander app now free on iTunes

Controlling the flow of combat in Battlefield 4 just became a bit more convenient thanks to the launch of the iOS Tablet Commander app. While the app won't be of much help in a straight up firefight, it does allow players to take control of the game's Commander mode from the comfort of the nearest iPad. Using touchscreen controls, the app allows would-be generals to scout the entire map at once, direct teammates on where to go, and call in... [read news]

Metal Gear Solid 5 was nearly a PSP and PS3 game

Metal Gear Solid 5's prologue chapter Ground Zeroes was initially planned as a PlayStation 3 and PSP release before making the jump to multiple current and next-gen consoles, series producer Hideo Kojima revealed this week. "Honestly, I really wanted to release Ground Zeroes right after [2010's PSP release of] Peace Walker," Kojima said. "Whether on PSP or PS3. But then we had development issues, some delays with Metal Gear Rising as well.... [read news]
